Relighting the magic and the charm of the 1930’s New York theatre, CinemaNX releases Me & Orson Welles available on DVD exclusively at Tesco now.

Zac Efron (High School Musical, 17 Again) confirms his star quality as a young aspiring actor, who gets a part in an Orson Welles‘ play. Starring alongside Efron is Claire Danes (Romeo & Juliet, Stardust, Stage Beauty) as highly ambitious production assistant Sonja Jones who enchants Richard (Efron). The film also introduces Christian McKay, whose striking portrayal of Orson Welles saw him nominated for the BAFTA award for Best Supporting Actor as well as Best Actor at the London Evening Standard Awards, Best Actor at the London Film Critics’ Circle Awards and Most Promising Newcomer at the British Independent Film Awards.

Also starring are Eddie Marsan (Sherlock Holmes, Happy-Go-Lucky), Kelly Reilly (Sherlock Holmes, Eden Lake), Ben Chaplin (Dorian Gray, The Water Horse), James Tupper (Men In Trees), Zoe Kazan (It’s Complicated, The Private Lives Of Pippa Lee) and Imogen Poots (Solitary Man, Centurion, V for Vendetta).

Brilliantly directed and produced by Oscar® nominated Richard Linklater (Dazed and Confused, Before Sunset, School of Rock) and based on the best-selling novel by Robert Kaplow, Me & Orson Welles tells the tale of teenage student Richard Samuels (Efron), who lucks his way into a minor role in the legendary 1937 Mercury Theatre production of Caesar, directed by a youthful Orson Welles (McKay). Over the course of a magical week, Richard makes his Broadway debut, finds romance with an ambitious older woman, and experiences the dark side of genius after daring to cross the imperious, brilliant Welles. Richard has to grow up fast.
