Sightseeing in London:

Big Ben Venice has its gondolas, Prague has its horse-drawn carriages and London has its double decker buses.

But fret not, the veritable red Routemasters are as fine a way to tour a city as our water-borne and hay-fuelled friends. Sat atop the open-top upper deck you are afforded a fine view of the city’s famous sights and sit well clear of the low lying city fumes.

Most of the operators allow you to buy tickets when you arrive. Many feature a hop-on, hop-off facility allowing you to break your journey to visit sights along the way and rejoin the tour on another bus.

While most visitors choose to take a trip on one of the many organised bus tours there are some nifty alternatives. From guided London walks to cruises along the River Thames, the sit-back-and-relax city tour is alive and well in the capital.

Our Sightseeing Pick:

The Original London Sightseeing Tour

The Big Bus London Sightseeing TourLondon is one of the world’s greatest cities. Over the course of two thousand years it has generated a story which now enraptures millions of visitors every year. From the Romans to the Vikings, the Normans to the Tudors, all have left their mark. Artists as diverse as Shakespeare, Dickens, Turner, Mozart, Henry James and the Beatles have all found inspiration here.

There is a full commentary in English and a choice of six other languages on selected routes. Live English speaking guides appear on the Yellow Route service. Your tour tickets are completely unrestricted. Each route makes frequent stops – simply hop-off where you want to and return to the same stop to continue your tour.

Be amazed, be very amazed!
