Chanteraide is a gifted submarine sonar technician, whose acute ear is invaluable underwater where navigation relies on interpreting every faint sound. He is stationed on a French submarine off the coast of Syria captained by Grandchamp, which has been tasked with rescuing a team of Special Forces operatives without alerting a nearby Iranian warship. During the tense mission, Chanteraide is unsettled by a noise he has never heard before. He takes drastic action, which results in a reprimand.
