Royal Opera Live Encore Screening: La Forza Del Destino

Antonio Pappano conducts Christof Loy’s staging of Verdi’s passionate opera in four acts, which was recorded live on the stage of the Royal Opera House in London. Leonora is head over heels in love with South American nobleman Don Alvaro but her father, the Marquis of Calatrava, forbids the relationship. He catches his daughter attempting to elope with her beau and in the ensuing struggle, Alvaro accidentally kills the Marquis. With his dying breath, the slain father curses Leonora.
