Orphan Yuri Andreyevich Zhivago is raised by his mother’s friends Alexander and Anna Gromeko and becomes a doctor. During the First World War, the young medic tends to the injured on the battlefields and he meets a pretty nurse called Lara, whose husband Pasha is missing in action. Yuri falls madly in love with Lara, but they remain faithful to their spouses against the backdrop of the conflict.
