More than 40 years after his father Jack relinquished his sanity, Danny Torrance searches for inner peace. Unfortunately, the nightmares of the past resurface when a teenager called Abra makes contact. She has the same extrasensory gift as Danny, who calls this ability the "shine". A cult known as The True Knot led by the malevolent Rose The Hat feeds off these psychic powers, believing the deaths of the young and powerless light a path to immortality.
