Malti is attacked with acid on the streets of Delhi by a man she has rebuffed. She is rushed to hospital where doctors attempt to repeatedly wash her face with water. However, the damage to Malti's skin is considerable and she retreats from the outside world, afraid of the person she sees when she looks in the mirror. As she undergoes rehabilitation and surgery, Malti joins a campaign to support other victims of acid attacks. She meets founder Amol, who becomes her biggest supporter.
