RUSSELL BRAND has been lined up to play the title role in a remake of comedy classic Arthur.

The 1981 original starred Dudley Moore as a lonely, rich, drunk guy who falls for Lisa Minelli’s low-rent character.
Brand is currently meeting screenwriters to re-write the film, according to The Hollywood Reporter and would likely welcome a break from Blighty given the mess left over from his prank call to Andrew Sachs.
The original movie’s massive success helped make Moore a huge Hollywood star and bagged Sir John Gielgud, who played the butler, a Best Supporting Actor Oscar.
