James Corden: I’ll do better than Peter Kay as Brits host

JAMES CORDEN is to host this year’s Brit Awards, held for the first time at the O2 Arena.

“I have always loved the Brits and I am honoured to have been asked to host such a prestigious event,” said Corden.

The Gavin and Stacey star presented the award show two years ago alongside Mat Horne and Kylie Minogue, but seems pleased to have got the gig on his ownsome this time around.

“It definitely works better with one host,” he said.

As long as that one host is himself, apparently, as Corden hasn’t been too complimentary about last year’s MC, Peter Kay.

“After watching Peter Kay I’m sure I could do better,” said Corden.

“Peter was good but he could have been more enthusiastic.”

In another departure from Brit tradition, the 2011 award-trophies have been created by Vivienne Westwood, the first re-vamp in what organisers plan to be a series of annual re-designs by famous names.

The Brits take place on 15 February.
