The 17-year-old actress – the niece of Hollywood superstar Julia Roberts, who famously showed off underarm hair at the premiere of Notting Hill in 1999 – admitted her love interest in the film, British actor Alex Pettyfer, was “really mean” to her on set and teased her remorselessly.
She said: “On set, Alex was really mean to me. He was surrounded by girls, although he pretended not to fancy any of us, and he used to tease me for having hairy arms.
“I teased him too though, especially for having been a model.”
Emma plays spoilt American schoolgirl Poppy in Wild Child. The film sees Poppy sent to an English boarding school where she struggles to fit in with her peers.
The actress admits filming the movie reminded her of her own school experience.
She added to the Daily Mirror: “Making the film did kind of take me back, because at a girls’ school you have your cliques, and when new girls come in you are a bit judgemental.”
Emma also admitted that, while she was an “OK” student at school she often found herself in detention.
She revealed: “I was in detention a lot because I violated the dress code. But I enjoyed school. Even when you were having a bad time there were good stories to tell.
“I’ll have something to write about it my memoirs!”
