The outspoken makeover expert has been chosen to front matchmaking show Baggage, and TV executives hope popular presenter Gok could become the new Cilla Black.

An insider told The Sun: ”Bosses really like Gok and they think he will be perfect for a dating show. It is hoped Baggage could become as big as Cilla Black’s Blind Date.”

The eight-part series will see love-seeking hopefuls gradually reveal their flaws to one another and share secrets which have been hidden in suitcases.

This comes after Gok revealed that his flagship show How To Look Good Naked – in which he gives women body confidence by revamping their wardrobes and attitudes – would not be returning this year.

He commented: ”I didn’t want to keep doing it until it ran out of steam. It will come back at some point, but maybe in a different form.”

Gok is also working on new show Gok Cooks Chinese, and Channel 4 are hoping to made him a core part of the channel by re-branding him as a general presenter and not just a stylist.

Channel 4 will also shake things up this summer by broadcasting a series of celebrity special Million Pound Drop episodes, with a lineup including Jedward, Professor Green and Steps.
