Daniel Radcliffe praises crew for 'their incredible work'
Harry Potter bags Bafta - now for an Oscar.

THE HARRY POTTER film series is to get an outstanding contribution to British cinema award at this year's Baftas, it has been announced.

Leading man Daniel Radcliffe was quick to praise all those who have worked behind the scenes on the series, which reaches its end with the release of Harry Potter the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.

"To me the real heroes are the crew and the huge team of craftsmen that have made all eight of them possible," said Radcliffe.

"This award is a testament to their incredible work."

There is a feeling that the award is a nudge in the ribs of the Oscar voters who have never before felt able to give Harry Potter any gongs, despite the boy wizard's spell over the box office.

The Baftas, which take place on 13 February are held just before the Oscars, which go ahead on the 27 of the same month.

This year, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 is up for two Academy Awards, in the fields of art direction and visual effects.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 opens in London in July.
