Kate, 25, dazzled at Chelsea’s The Shop at Bluebird where she and her sister Pippa had organised the photography show in aid of The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

A source told the Daily Express: ‘Kate did really well and managed to wow everyone – even those who know the art scene inside out. It’s a tough business and there’s so much competition.’

The exhibition showcased limited edition photographs of celebrities – including Tom Cruise, Ewan McGregor, Sting and Catherine Zeta Jones – by Alistair Morrison.

Morrison – who has known Kate since she was a history of art student at Scotland’s St Andrews University where she met Prince William – praised the young brunette for being a talented photographer herself.

He said: ‘She takes beautiful detailed photographs. She has a huge talent and a great year. I’m sure she will go far.’

Kate – who looked slender and elegant in a demure grey gown and chunky fashion jewellery – mingled with the guests and showed she was the perfect hostess.

William turned up late, dressed down in an open neck shirt and blazer, and chatted to Kate’s parents Michael and Carole Middleton.

The prince’s step-sister Laura Lopes – Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall’s daughter – and his close friend, nightclub manager Guy Pelly, and his also attended the exhibition.

Following the launch, William and Kate headed to an exclusive London restaurant with her family and Guy for dinner.

Kate hopes the successful launch will be the first in a series of exhibitions she curates at The Shop at Bluebird, which is owned by Belle and John Robinson, who also own highstreet clothing company Jigsaw, where she was a buyer until she recently quit.
