The troubled Babyshambles singer – who was recently pictured injecting heroin just days after promising fans he was clean – revealed his conversations with 24-year-old Amy are helping them both to beat their addictions.
Pete is also comforting Amy while her husband Blake Fielder-Civil is being held in London’s Pentonville Prison for his alleged involvement in a £200,000 plot to pervert the course of justice.
Pete said: ‘I speak to Amy almost every day. She just wants her man back for Christmas. They are desperately in love. One good thing is that Blake has got clean since he has been in prison. It’s quite awakening. Amy stopped doing everything since he went in.
‘She realises how much they have to lose. They are going to lose each other if it carries on. Love, music and melody is the way forward.’
Pete – who has had relationships with supermodels Kate Moss and Irina Lazareanu – appeared at the West London Magistrates Court yesterday (20.11.07) for a review of his year-long drug rehabilitation treatment following his relapse.
Speaking outside the court, the 28-year-old musician said: ‘It hasn’t been all plain sailing. I am sad to say I had a drugs relapse. I was clean for 11 weeks before that.’
When asked how he was coping with his drug addictions, he quipped: ‘Let’s just say we are not dreaming of a white or brown Christmas!’
Heroin is often sold under slang terms including ‘brown’, while cocaine is sometimes referred to as ‘white’ or ‘snow’.
Earlier this year, Pete was ordered to complete a 12-month drug rehabilitation order and given a four-month suspended sentence in relation to his May arrest for driving illegally while in possession of drugs in West London.
