The estranged wife of Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney – who wants to flee Britain with the couple’s daughter Beatrice to America – is asking US journalists to sign her petition on YouCare.com.
Heather’s Los Angeles publicist sent out an email on Tuesday (30.10.07) to numerous media contacts directing them to the website aimed mainly at countering negative stories in The Sun, according to the New York Daily News.
As evidence of a media vendetta, Heather’s spokeswoman cited “the fact that they have also tried to ruin her daughter’s birthday by fabricating a story on the death of an animal, whose owner pretended that the fireworks display during her daughter’s birthday was the direct cause of the dog’s death, when in fact the dog died of an abdominal catastrophe.”
Earlier this week, it was alleged by The Sun that a neighbour’s dog had died after Heather held an elaborate fireworks display for daughter Beatrice’s fourth birthday at the weekend.
The former model – who lost her left leg below the knee in a motorcycle accident in 1993 – gave a series of interviews on British television yesterday (31.10.07) claiming the media had treated her “worse than a murderer or a paedophile”, and compared herself to the late Princess Diana.
She also claimed to have received death threats and accused Sir Paul of doing to protect her and their daughter.
Heather even confessed she had been on the brink of suicide.
Heather’s British publicist, Phil Hall, resigned on Tuesday night (30.10.07) after failing to persuade her not to go ahead with her campaign.
