In Sudan, the culture of cinema-going has almost died out except for a few theatres in Khartoum. Under the umbrella of the Sudanese Film Club, retired directors Manar Al Hilo, Suleiman Mohamed Ibrahim, Altayeb Mahdi and Ibrahim Shadad educate countrymen and -women by travelling around Sudan with a video projector and laptop, staging free screenings of classics in town squares. The four filmmakers are encouraged to expand their plans and rejuvenate a theatre in the city of Omdourman.
