Prince William is to join a Mountain Rescue team for a day.

The future king will visit the Mountain Rescue base in Dowlais, Merthyr Tydfil, as part of an official visit to south Wales.

William will meet members of Mountain Rescue England and Wales emergency team and take part in a staged quarry rescue with the team at Morlais Quarry.

While in the country, the prince will also visit a Valleys Kids Project at Pen Dinas, in the Porth area. William will meet with youngsters who are part of the project and watch music performances and break dancing from the youngsters.

The prince – who visited troops in the war zone of Afghanistan last month – is also set to fight in the war against drug trafficking in South America.

William, a Household Cavalry officer, will join Royal Navy patrols to help catch cocaine smugglers in the Caribbean.

Both Clarence House and Armed Forces chiefs are keen for William – who will soon complete his four-month stint with the Royal Air Force – to keen as much experience as he can.
