The Agent Provocateur of Punk, has died of cancer in New York, aged 64. McLaren managed The Sex Pistols and propelled the gob-fuelled punk rockers to international stardom in the mid seventies. Aside from a rich contribution to discovering new talent, from the Pistols to Adam And The Ants, he had a massive impact on UK and world fashion, thanks in part to his relationship with Vivienne Westwood. In later years he campaigned for the post of London Mayor, with a diverse range of policies from planting the capital’s roadsides with fruit trees to opening a brothel next to the Houses of Parliament.
