The Notting Hill actor has been on a series of alcohol-fuelled nights out to help him get over ex-girlfriend Sienna Miller – who called time on their relationship during a phone call earlier this month.
In an effort to mend his broken heart and take a break from living in the spotlight, Rhys has decided to spend some time in his homeland.
He said: “I’m going back to Wales for two weeks to get out of London and get away from it all. I just want to get back to my roots and be around my Welsh friends for a while.”
A friend of the actor added: “Rhys has been partying very hard since the split. He knows it has to stop so he’s going back to Wales to calm down for a while. He plans to spend some time in Cardiff and some in the countryside.”
However, before leaving London, Rhys had one more night out with friends, including Jamie Hince, Kimberly Stewart, Fran Cutler and Nick Grimshaw to celebrate Clash legend Mick Jones’ 53rd birthday on Monday (23.06.08).
