The Sex and the City actress has resigned herself to the fact that Spinning Into Butter – in which she co-stars with Beau Bridges and Miranda Richardson – won’t be released after failing to find a distributor.

She told the New York Post: “One enters these endeavours with the best of intentions but sometimes they don’t work out. The film is in that purgatory that many movies find themselves.”

Spinning Into Butter – which was due to be released last year – features Sarah as the college dean of a New England college, who has to deal with the fall-out of a race hate crime on campus.

In May, the 42-year-old star can be seen reprising her role as sex columnist Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City: The Movie, the much-anticipated film version of the hit US sitcom.
