The Minority Report star and her filmmaker fiancé Harry Holm – the son of British actor Sir Ian Holm – welcomed their baby daughter, who is yet to be named, into the world on 4 January at an undisclosed London hospital.
Samantha’s publicist Karon Maskill said: “It is fantastic news and both mother and baby are doing brilliantly.”
The 30-year-old actress – who plays Mary Queen of Scots opposite Cate Blanchett in Elizabeth: The Golden Age – has a seven-year-old daughter Esme from her relationship with British actor Charlie Creed-Miles.
Samantha met Harry when he directed her in a video for the band The Victims in 2005.
He proposed to her in Paris on 13 May 2006 – her 29th birthday – but they postponed their wedding date first because of career commitments, and then because of Samantha’s pregnancy.
The twice-Oscar-nominated actress can next be seeing in Charlie Kaufman’s new film Synecdoche, New York opposite Philip Seymour Hoffman and Michelle Williams.
