Among the big names already announced are gold medalist swimmer Duncan Goodhew, gold medal-winning runner Dame Kelly Holmes and Blue Peter presenter Konnie Huq. The names of more star torch bearers are to be released over the next week.

The route starts at Wembley stadium and ends at Greenwich – where an east-meets-west themed event includes ribbon dancers, gymnasts and a performance by the Sugarbabes – and takes in some of London’s most famous sites along the way such as Trafalgar Square, St Paul’s Cathedral and Canary Wharf.
