After years of loyal service, Frank loses his job in the Glasgow shipyards, to the shock and disbelief of his wife Joan, son Rob and good friends Danny, Norman, Eddie and Chan. Rather than sink into a mire of depression, Frank sets himself a new challenge: to swim the English Challenge solo, and he enlists the help of his pals to help him train in secret, behind Joan’s back.
