Cal is the disenfranchised son of farmer Adam Trask, who has always seemed to favour Cal’s brother Aron. When the family business suffers a massive financial setback, Cal attempts to finally earn his old man’s respect and love by growing beans, which should increase in worth in the event that America goes to war. Sibling rivalry intensifies when Cal finds himself attracted to his brother’s girlfriend Abra, who is wrestling with her feelings.
