A Gentle Woman (Une Femme Douce)

Elle is an emotionally fragile and timid young woman, who becomes an unlikely object of affection for passionate and forthright Luc. They marry but it's an unequal marriage despite Luc's best efforts to integrate her into his world with regular visits to the theatre and cinema. Elle's sense of isolation intensifies and the couple's maid Anna bears witness to the wife's deepening sadness, which leads to tragedy on the streets of Paris.
