The Angels hitmaker is “excited and honoured” to join the line-up for the show – which is being organised by his Take That bandmate Gary Barlow – alongside stars including Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Elton John, Sir Tom Jones and Sir Cliff Richard.

Robbie – who lives in Los Angeles with pregnant wife Ayda Field – joked: “I am excited to be in London for the celebrations and honoured to be part of this line-up.

“If this doesn’t get me a knighthood, nothing will. I can’t wait for the show.”

Robbie’s addition to the concert – which will take place outside Buckingham Palace on 4 June – has delighted organisers because of his universal appeal.

A source told the Daily Mirror: “Getting Robbie is a major catch for the concert – he’s a huge star and massively popular with fans of all ages.

“This show is going to be the centrepiece of the Queen’s celebrations, and Robbie is a proper showman.”

Other acts performing at the concert – which will be broadcast live on BBC1 and BBC Radio 2 – include JLS, Ed Sheeran and Dame Shirley Bassey.
