Our Picks
Oasis (Wembley Arena - 9, 11 and 12 July 2009) The Manchester group make the news as much for the mouthy Gallagher brothers' insults as for their music (their latest album, Dig Out Your Soul, debuted in October). Even if you think the band peaked in 1995 with Wonderwall, isn't it worth reliving 18 years of solid psych pop? |
U2 (Wembley Stadium - Fri 14 Aug 2009) Ireland's venerable old rockers pitch up at Wembley for the London leg of their 360° tour. With a vast array of hits from Sunday Bloody Sunday, New Year's Day, Beautiful Day and Vertigo the Dublin outfit are sure to prove crowd pleasers again.
|
Coldplay (Wembley Stadium - Fri 18 and Sat 19 Sep2009) Hot on the heels of Viva La Vida the Prog-Rocker champs line-up for afternoon and evening gigs at Wembley. Expect the band to blast out Yellow, Speed of Sound, Fix You and Viva La Vida to a flag waving, sing-along crowd with lighters held aloft.

THE ORIGINS OF LONDON ROCK & POP...
For many, London's vibrant music scene dates back to the 60s, when The Stones were rocking Hyde Park and The Beatles were jamming away at Abbey Road. For others, the heady days of 70s punk showed London's true calling. Clubbers will point to the dance-music explosion of the past decade as the capital's defining era.
Who cares! The real strength of London's music scene is diversity. The capital can lay claim to some truly memorable homegrown talent: The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, The Clash, The Sex Pistols, Primal Scream, The Chemical Brothers and hey, we can't forget All Saints and The Spice Girls.
With so many bands based in one city, live music choice is unparalleled - every sound is just a short tube ride away. In pubs, in clubs, in stadiums; hundreds of bands play live in London every night of the year.
