London Accommodation

Hints and tips for grabbing a London accommodation bargain

spacer Where do you want to stay? – Unlike a lot of modern cities, London’s growth and development has been piecemeal over many centuries. In the middle there’s a pair of cities; The City of Westminster and The City of London and all around are dozens of former villages such as Notting Hill that have been absorbed into the growing metropolis.

Business travellers might choose to stay close to The City of London to be nearby for meetings and conferences. Leisure visitors can choose the West End with its famous shops and theatres. Cheaper options can often be found further out in the suburbs, but you’ll have to brave London’s sprawling urban transport system of tube and overground trains and the legions of red bus routes that wing their way around the city’s streets.

spacer When do you want to stay? – Timing is crucial to getting the most out of your stay and grabbing the best London accommodation bargains. Avoid the high seasons such as the Summer and Easter holidays and you’ll save yourself a pretty packet. For one night stays, Sunday is usually the cheapest night to book a hotel or bed and breakfast room.

spacer Read the small print – However good you are at grabbing some cheap London accommodation, you’ll still be paying a princely sum, so please, please check the terms and conditions of your booking carefully. Most accommodation providers will have cancellation terms, but the best should only charge for the first night of your stay if you cancel and many business hotels will charge you nothing providing you cancel according to their notice terms, e.g. 24 hours before arrival. So read the small print carefully and follow their terms and you should be fine.
