Lonely 60-year-old bachelor Jacobo Koller runs a small sock factory in a run down part of town. On the eve of the anniversary of his mother’s death, Jacobo’s more successful brother Herman decides to pay a visit, throwing his sibling into a quandary. Determined to make his humdrum life seem far more impressive than it really is, Jacobo hires his most-valued employee, Marta, to pose as his wife, even faking their wedding photographs to give the impression they are a loving couple.
