Writer-director Thomas Novachek has spent the entire day auditioning actresses for his new play to no avail. Out of the blue, the theatre doors open and rain-sodden, bedraggled Vanda Jordan staggers into the stalls to audition. She doesn’t appear to be on the call sheet but after some begging and pleading, Thomas allows Vanda to read the role of Wanda while he plays the part of Severin von Kushemski.
