Benevolent mayor JB presides over the village of Sunnytown, where creatures great and small live in harmony beside the sea. When JB vanishes without trace, his ambitious deputy Twig allows power to go to his head and shows no interest in discovering the whereabouts of JB. An elephant called Sebastian and cat Mitcho discover a message from JB in a bottle, which instructs them to plant the seed of a pear tree. Once the tree bears fruit, Sebastian and Mitcho embark on a quest to rescue JB.
