Out of the blue, gamer Carl receives a mysterious invitation to take part in an experiment. Arriving at the specified location – a deserted building – he discovers a motion capture outfit and helmet as well as several other gamers including Adam, Edward, Marco and Shelley. The strangers suit up and enter a virtual reality world where they quickly discover that death in the game will kill them in real life.
