Following the death of his wife, grief-stricken father and teacher Al seeks comfort in the arms of one of his creative writing students, Shelley. Meanwhile, Al’s sensitive and lonely 13-year-old son Fin retreats into his private world of butterfly collecting. On the same day, Al and Fin meet florist Evelyn, who is newly arrived in town to escape ghosts of her dark past. Father and son fall under the intoxicating spell of Evelyn and spark a rivalry for her affections.
