Coroner Tommy Tilden and his grown-up son Austin oversee a family-owned morgue and crematorium in their sleepy corner of Virginia. When Sheriff Sheldon Burke asks Tommy and Austin to perform an urgent post mortem on an unidentified female victim – Jane Doe – they oblige. At first, the procedure begins like any other post mortem but when Tommy and his son Austin delve beneath Jane’s skin, they discover her internal organs have been charred and dismembered.
