Nicola Luisotti conducts a revival of Richard Jones’ staging of Puccini’s passionate opera, a co-production with Teatro Real in Madrid and Lyric Opera of Chicago broadcast live from the Royal Opera House in London. On Christmas Eve, impoverished poet Rodolfo meets his beautiful neighbour Mimi, who has misplaced her key. There is an immediate attraction, and in the moonlight, the young couple declare their love for one another. They celebrate by sharing a meal at nearby Cafe Momus.
