Return Of The Hero (12A)

Captain Neuville intends to marry Pauline Beauregard. Before the happy couple can walk down the aisle, Neuville answers Napoleon’s call to fight and never returns. Pauline’s resourceful sister Elisabeth tries to spare her sibling by falsifying letters from the missing soldier, which paint him as a hero who will eventually die on the battlefields. Two years later, a drunken and dishevelled Neuville resurfaces and he exploits Elisabeth’s lie to worm his way back into Pauline’s affections.
