Ivo van Hove directs Jude Law in a stage version of Luchino Visconti’s 1943 erotically charged thriller, recorded live on the stage of the Barbican Theatre in London. Based on James M Cain’s novel The Postman Always Rings Twice, the plot centres on a down-at-heel drifter called Gino, who sparks a dangerous affair with a married woman, Hanna, whose husband Giuseppe owns a roadside restaurant and petrol station.
