Marley & Me (PG)

Newlyweds John and Jenny Grogan move from Michigan to Florida to pursue careers as journalists and put down roots, building a home together. When fellow reporter Sebastian plants a seed of worry in John’s mind about his wife wanting a baby, the husband decides to dodge the bullet by buying Jenny a child substitute: a yellow Labrador pup called Marley. The tiny, adorable bundle of fun soon grows into 100 pounds of uncontrollable energy, chewing up anything and everything in John and Jenny’s home including their clothes and furniture. The couple fails to train Marley and labels the four-legged friend “the world’s worst dog”. As the Grogans raise three kids, they realise that the Labrador is a vital part of family life, standing guard when any of the children are sick.
