Celebrated writer-director Bertrand Tavernier embarks on a very personal journey through French cinema, championing the films plus the directors, writers and actors, who have shaped his appreciation of the moving image. Originally a film critic, Tavernier subsequently worked as an assistant to Jean-Pierre Melville and reminisces about this fertile period in his documentary. He was also a press publicist for Jean-Luc Godard and one of the creative forces behind the Lumiere Classic Film Festival.
