Keith Warner directs Samuel Barber’s rarely staged, Pulitzer Prize-winning opera of psychological twists and sexually charged betrayal, which was recorded live at Glyndebourne’s resplendent opera house in East Sussex under the baton of conductor Jakub Hrusa. Vanessa is cast aside by her handsome lover Anatol and she retreats from the world to pray he comes to his senses. She seeks refuge with her mother, the Baroness, and pretty niece Erika. Months of waiting gradually turn to years.
