Legendary football manager Sir Matt Busby has retired from coaching. By chance, he crosses paths with 11-year-old tearaway Georgie Gallagher, who is an extraordinarily gifted footballer and captain of a team of unruly players poised to compete for the Manchester Junior Football League Cup. Busby comes out of retirement to help Georgie nurture his nature talent. However, the boy’s mother Erica is determined that the boy should forego his sporting dreams in favour of an education.
