Example has cancelled his October gigs due to a case of Achilles tendinitis, a painful leg condition.

In a series of posts on twitter, the Wandsworth-schooled rapper said: “With huge regret I’ve had to cancel/reschedule all my Oct shows. My achilles tendinitis has got worse and I need time to recover… Hoping to be back to full fitness asap and in time to play November/December shows. Details of the rescheduled shows soon (sic)”

The gigs in question were to be in South Africa, the Middle East and the US. Example’s return to the London live scene on 23 February 2013 at Earls Court is therefore unaffected.

Example recently revealed he had only just started taking singing lessons to make sure his voice was in top condition.

He said: “I’ve released three albums and about 15 [UK] Top 40 singles, so my manager went, ‘Do you think we maybe should have a singing lesson now?’

“But the vocal coach said to me: ‘I don’t want you to lose the sound you’ve got.’

“So she taught me to warm up, basically, so I don’t lose my voice.”
