The Call my Name singer – who split from her soccer player husband in 2010 after he cheated on her with several women – has unveiled a new tune entitled Love Killer and the lyrics have left fans speculating it could be about her former spouse.

On the track, lyrics include: “Why do I love you so much when you’re a love killer.

“Baby, baby, you’re like the worst drug but you’re a buzz killer / I’m in love with the love killer.”

She then croons: “Assassinate my dreams, you’re nothing but cold. But baby I just know that no-one in the world can love you if I don’t.”

Sources close to Cheryl say it is definitely about Ashley as she wanted to show him exactly how much he had hurt her.

One friend told the Daily Star: “It’s clearly about Ashley. And it’s the first time we’ve really seen Cheryl’s full fury over what happened. He and the rest of the world now know exactly how she feels.”

Cheryl – who will release her third solo album A Million Lights next month – has previously said she will always love Ashley despite how he treated her.

She said: “There’s part of us that will always love him, of course. And I love his family. And I love what we had.”
