RICKY GERVAIS has lined up Hollywood stars for support as the backlash continues against the comedian’s spikey Golden Globes jokes.

In a blog entry, Gervais says The Fighter star Christian Bale called him “fantastic” and a “genius” for his bare-knuckle gags at the awards ceremony.
Gevais also quotes screen legend Al Pacino, who said that “if [Gervais] censors himself, he’s going to curtail his wit. It’s funny.”
“Thanks to the coolest stars for coming to my rescue,” adds Gervais.
“It was heart-warming to realise I wasn’t losing my mind.”
Despite appearing grateful for the A-List backing, confusingly Gervais told new CNN TV show host Piers Morgan:
“It’s not my job to worry about what people think of me, that’s the job of a politician. I don’t care what people think of me.”
