What with all the hype for Black Friday and Cyber Monday you might be forgiven for believing the nation’s shoppers have filled their boots for Christmas.

It doesn’t seem like that out on London’s high streets. Whether you’re bundled onto a tube heading to Oxford Circus or circulating around a shopping centre car park, it is hell out there. Which sort of misses the point doesn’t it? Shouldn’t Christians be celebrating the birth of baby Jesus and the rest joining in to share peace and love to all?

With that in mind I think we’ll finally be taking the kids to a family service in our local church this Christmas. Don’t worry, we’re not trying to shoe them in to the adjacent CofE school, but the other parents doing exactly that will ensure that there will be plenty of children present to keep our own brood company.
